Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy spoke to a crowd of around 75 in Council Bluffs on Saturday, outlining a ten-point platform under the heading of “Truth” as he made a four-stop tour through Iowa.

The word “Truth” was printed on t-shirts and ball caps that were given out to attendees and came from a line in the film A Few Good Men, where Jack Nicholson’s character famously said, “you can’t handle the truth.”

“We can handle the truth about where the [Covid-19] virus came from,” Ramaswamy said. “We can handle the truth about the bribe paid to the son of the sitting President of the United States, paying that bribe in the form of $200 billion of military aid going to defend somebody else’s border Invasion. We can handle the truth about what really happened on January 6th. We can handle the truth about the Nashville shooter’s manifesto.”

Ramaswamy made headlines with his comments regarding Ukraine and Hunter Biden, which NBC asked him about in a press conference following his event. “A Ukrainian state-affiliated company made a $5 million dollar payment to the son of a sitting vice-president, who’s now the president of the United States, who is now sending $200 billion of aid to a country without ever identifying what the clear national objective is,” Ramaswamy said. “If you’re in Putin’s shoes, you’re saying, wait a minute, here’s a country that’s paying bribes to the son of the person who’s now the U.S president that’s now arming my enemy to the teeth.”

Ramaswamy, one of the youngest candidates to run for President in either party, believed he could achieve victory among young voters. “The left gives them race, gender, sexuality, climate. … Individual, family, Nation, God — that beats race, gender, sexuality, and climate if we actually have the courage to stand up for something.”

Ramaswamy also announced that he had received over 70,000 individual donations, more than enough to make the debate stage later this month. He is currently third is most opinion polls behind Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump, but he seemed optimistic about his chances in the general election. “I think there are other candidates in this race who can narrowly defeat Joe Biden in a Democrat-versus-Republican 50.1% margin. I’m in this because I believe I am the only candidate who can deliver a landslide margin.”

Ramaswamy also plans to tie the US dollar to a “basket of commodities,” end racial preferences, protect the southern border with the military, and shut down the “administrative state” with “mass layoffs.”
